Summit

The Question: What will be needed to create comprehensive frameworks for the exchange of learning resources in global educational partnerships? What infrastructure and architectures will be needed to support appropriate use and interoperability of content? What standards and partnerships will enable commercial publishers, the architects of learning environments and educational institutions to leverage their shared missions to efficiently serve the global distribution of knowledge? What exists? What must be created, now, to transform global education?

The Event: "The Coming Changes in Learning: Creating New Architectures Now!"

On Thursday, June 12, 2008, the IMS Global Learning Consortium and the University of Michigan will convene an international conversation to examine these questions and identify opportunities and hurdles facing new models for open global learning. U-M organizers and the IMS/GLC will host this one-day public Summit as the plenary session of the Quarterly Meeting of IMS Global Learning Consortium. The sponsors are inviting leaders of Open Educational Resource projects from universities, executives of higher education text book and journal publishers, and leading architects of commercial and open-source learning systems to offer their view on the standards and partnerships that will be needed for content and interoperability to support knowledge exchange in a global educational model
